The final vintage of this exceptional wine, produced under Daniel Landi's eponymous winery. It is now labelled as a Comando G wine, made in exactly the same way. This is consistently an outstanding vineyard site, capable of producing wines that are creeping up on Rumbo al Norte. Truly one of the great wines of Spain.

Luis Gutiérrez - The Wine Advocate

The bottled 2019 Las Iruelas is clearly the highlight of the vintage (together with the 2019 Rumbo al Norte from the Comando G portfolio), even better than anticipated when I tasted it last year. This has a developed nose, it's open and is the one that is truly reminiscent of Rayas with the notes of beeswax, honey, brick dust and decayed leaves and further complexity, like the wine has a fragility that is not present in the other wines here or in the Comando G portfolio. It has a medium-bodied palate with abundant fine-grained tannins but with a different texture from the wines from granite soils, as this is from slate and quartz. This is really outstanding and transcends the character of the vintage. It became more and more floral and aromatic with time in the glass. 3,347 bottles were filled in June 2021 after an extended élevage. Drink: 2021 - 2029

About Daniel Landi

If there's been a revolution in Spanish winemaking Dani Landi is one of the chief rebels. He made his name with family winery Bodegas Jimenez Landi before setting out on his own projects, which include a series of terroir-expressive wines from old-vine Garnacha from small isolated vineyards perched high up in the Sierra de Gredos, southwest of Madrid.

He makes a 'village' wine called Uvas de la Ira but also bottles three vineyards separately which each aim to capture the specific landscape and place. “We make landscape wines from the vine without any make-up. Three basic ideas guide our work: minerality, freshness and elegance.”
