Sandhi

In the words of famed wine writer Antonio Galloni, ‘It is quite conceivable that within a few years the Sandhi Chardonnays and Pinots could become reference point, benchmark wines for Santa Barbara, and California, for that matter’. High praise and a big statement, but there’s no doubt in our mind that Sandhi lives up to it and more. This is a joint project between The Sourcing Table’s own Rajat Parr (an acclaimed Sommelier and wine writer) and the talented winemaker Sashi Moorman. Founded in 2010, Sandhi (a Sanskrit word which translates to ‘collaboration’) places its focus on exploring Santa Barbara Chardonnay. Rajat and Sashi adopted a Burgundian approach to their winemaking. They use some of the finest sites in the area, and their single vineyard bottles are often hailed as the Premier and Grand Cru equivalents of California. All their Chardonnay expressions are grown organically, fermented naturally, use minimal sulphur additions, and only see a small amount of new oak. Rajat and Sashi are trailblazers in the world of New Wave California, and the Sandhi wines perfectly exemplify why.
